Help understanding cameras AAC settings
I have been trying to replace some older Amcrest cameras with Anpviz and or Jennov. Both types have audio settings with AAC , G.711x. If I try to use the AAC settings BitRate 16000 and sample rate 16000 (only choices available) all I get is static with quiet places. If I use the G.711 settings I get crappy old time audio - plus I have to reconstruct the audio to even get it to playback. When I do the reconstruction there is a noticeable latency between the audio and video.
Am I doing something wrong?

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong, but it does sound like there is a problem with the AAC audio data that these cameras are producing that is causing decoding problems for SecuritySpy. Are there any settings at all in the cameras for the generation of AAC audio, or is it all fixed with no adjustment?
Do the cameras support any format other than AAC or G.711, for example PCM? If so, PCM at 16 kHz would be a good one to use.
If the format from the camera is anything but AAC, you will need to get SecuritySpy to recompress the stream to AAC for recordings, if you want the files to play back in web browsers. In this case, can you please describe the latency issues more precisely - is this with live or recorded audio? Does the audio become too early or too late? By how much time?

after recompressing the G.711 it is small in the .1sec range and lips sync shows that video comes first. As for the AAC - both cameras have pulldowns with one value each 16000 bitrate and 16000 sample rate. Maybe I should live with the G.711 format - Not trying to get 20 -20Khz BW.

In that case it sounds like receiving G.711 and recompressing to AAC is the way to go here. I hope the quality isn't too bad! A 0.1s audio delay is not large and hopefully won't be an issue. The only other thing to check would be for any available camera firmware updates, to see if this fixes the camera AAC problem - worth a try.

Thank you - No firmware so far .. the Anpviz have introduced a U(M) version that is suppose to correct the issues
One parting comment - It seem that quite a few companies (3) have problems with rebooting when I send (mic on) . It doesn't matter if they don't even have two way capability or not. I have found that they end creating an "error from camera"

For any camera that doesn't have two-way audio, where attempting to send audio to the camera causes issues, you can go to Settings > Cameras > Setup > Advanced Setup Options in SecuritySpy, and check the "Disable computer-to-camera audio" option. This will turn off this functionality, so that sending audio can't be attempted.
